Udaipur is a major city and a historic capital of the Kingdom of Mewar in the erstwhile Rajputana agency. The city was discovered by Maharana Udai Singh of the Sisodia Clan of Rajput in the year 1553 but later he shifted his capital from the city of Chittorgarh to Udaipur. It remained as the capital city until 1818 when it came under the control of the British. Udaipur is renowned for its rich history, vibrant culture, scenic locations and opulent palaces that belonged to the Rajput Dynasty. Some of the famous historic places in Udaipur are as follows.
1. The City Palace : -

4. Jag Mandir : -
Jag Mandir is a 17th century structure located in the midst of Lake Pichola. Visitors will be greeted by a marble-made elephants which is positioned outside the building. This three storied structure also features certain sections such as Gul Mahal which is an elegant facade, a enchanting garden courtyard and the Darikhana on the northern side.
5. Jagdish Temple : -
It is an Indo-Aryan temple constructed by Maharana Jagat Singh. This temple is located near the Badi-pol entrance of the city palace. This shrine also houses a brass image of Garuda which is the mount (vahana) of Lord Vishnu. A large number of devotees throng the temple daily to witness the Aarti that is performed during sunrise and sunset.
